About AKMI SA
The Institute of Vocational Training AKMI is the largest VET provider in Greece and one of the 7 largest in Europe. It was founded back in 1989 and today is active in 9 cities across Greece (Athens, Piraeus, Thessaloniki, Herakleion, Larissa, Rhodes, Chalkida, Elliniko, Alexandroupoli) representing almost 60% of the total VET sector in the country providing post-secondary education, of EQF levels 3-5. Every year, approximately 18.000 active students are enrolled with the aim of studying one of the 112 specialties, in more than 380 laboratories in 14 different sectors within more than 37.500 m2 of infrastructure across the country.

Project 1
- The COVID-19 crisis has prompted a shift to digital education in VET, but many teachers lack digital skills. Podcasts are increasingly popular for learning in Europe. The project aims to train VET educators in podcasting, create a library of VET podcasts, and offer students flexible learning options for efficient studying. This aligns with the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027 to improve digital skills and enhance VET education systems.
Project 2
- ALL2eVET, aims at integrating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion tools and policies (DEI) within the VET institutions and mainly to VET teachers/staff/trainers as well as to VET managers and administratives in order to promote disability-inclusive education through capacity building activities and improving the accessibility functioning of the institutions though the attractiveness of VET.
Project 3
- The Explain GreenComp project assists VET institutions in Europe to integrate environmental sustainability into their curricula using the GreenComp framework. Partners assess, update, and test curricula, providing educational materials and guidelines for easy adoption by other VET institutions.
